We have David Roberts to thank for suggesting that there was a gap in the market for year-round one day Courses and for inspiring us to create The Shalbourne Collection!  We must also thank Rozzie and Jonny Buxton for having the perfect barn to play host to the majority of our days.

We both live in Shalbourne in Wiltshire and are passionate about wanting to give you the opportunity to widen your horizons, explore something new or hone already existing talents from within our beautiful village and its surroundings.

Carolyn trained at the Royal College of Music as a singer and pianist and won the Poole Scholaship to study on their opera course.  After two seasons with Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Glyndebourne Touring Opera, the career was somewhat curtailed by the arrival of baby Jack, followed shortly by Sophie!  After 15 years of teaching in London and writing reviews on the performing arts, Carolyn and her family moved to Shalbourne.  She is a trustee of Rochester Cathedral, and "Ambassador" for the Music in Hospitals Charity, on the PCC in Shalbourne and a community governor of marvellous Shalbourne Primary School.  Carolyn has been married to party organiser William Bartholomew for 30 years!  Being close to the party scene for a long time combined with her love of the arts makes The Shalbourne Collection a really inspiring challenge.

Sarah stopped working full time 10 years ago to bring up her two boys Ollie and Charlie.  They are now both at school and with husband Rob working in London during the week, The Shalbourne Collection gives Sarah the perfect balance of having something worthwhile and fulfilling to do during the day whilst still being there for school pick ups, home work and late running trains! She is a qualified chartered surveyor but since "retiring" has found herself involved in a number of charity fundraisers - all of which have brought out the best of her organisational skills!  Sarah also thoroughly enjoys working with and being with people and this gives her the chance to do both.
